EYE Examination Simulator
The EYE examination simulator allows for fundus examination with any ophthalmoscope. The simulator allows you to vary the depth and pupil diameter. Ten different cases can be selected using slides placed in the simulator.

Features and Benefits:

  • Suitable for training with all types of direct ophthalmoscopes. The lens-equipped eyeball units reproduce the visual axis close to that of the human eye providing a realistic eye-ground view.
  • When the instrument is used improperly, the ocular fundus will not be observed.
  • The depth of the fundus slides can be set in 3 steps, showing differences between hyperopic, normal and myopic views.
  • Red reflex can be seen.

EAR Examination Simulator
The EAR Examination Simulator is designed for the examination of the external acoustic meatus and tympanic membrane directly with any otoscope. It also enables students to practice earwax and foreign body removal. Instructors can select from 10 different case pathologies.

Features and Benefits:

  • Diagnostic training using both the right and left ears is possible with 10 matching sets of ear models showing embedded tympanic membrane images.
  • Anatomically correct ear models with soft material facilitate hands-on practice in clinical.
  • The manikin neck can be tilted from side to side to learn head positioning.
  • A normal case with a wider view is provided as an introductory level.

Airway management trainers work with:

  • Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM)
  • Nasopharyngeal Airway
  • Orophargeal Airway
  • Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA)
  • Direct and Video Laryngoscopy
  • Cricothyrotomy

Thyroid Biopsy Ultrasound Training Model

The Thyroid Biopsy trainer enables learners to gain proficiency in ultrasound guided thyroid fine needle biopsy procedures. The trainer contains the thyroid, focal lesions suitable for fine needle biopsy, and pertinent surrounding anatomical structures.

Structural anatomy includes:

  • The left and right lobes of the Thyroid Gland
  • The Isthmus
  • Multinodular Goiter
  • Trachea
  • Esophagus
  • Carotid Arteries
  • Internal Jugular Veins

Multiple simple and complex masses with a variety of sonographic appearances are present in the model included.

Pericardiocentesis Simulator with Chest Tube and Pneumothorax

The Nasco Life/form® Pericardiocentesis Simulator with Chest Tube and Pneumothorax has been designed specifically to teach the skills needed to perform these difficult procedures correctly, as well as ongoing chest tube maintenance and the management of pre-hospital chest trauma. The simulator has a pressurized tension pneumothorax site and a site for the surgical placement of a functional chest tube. Fluid color, volume, and viscosity can be controlled by the instructor. The manikin may be used with any commercially available closed water seal drainage unit.. Accurate placement of the needle will allow for the withdrawal of fluid from the simulated pericardium.

Features and Benefits:

  • Allows surgical placement of chest tubes to treat pleural effusion by draining fluids from the pleural space.
  • Has a pressurized tension pneumothorax site to relieve air that has accumulated within the pleural space and is restricting lung inflation.
  • Pericardiocentesis may be performed in the left subxiphoid space and in the left fifth intercostal space.
  • Two cut-away viewing areas provide awareness of the anatomical relationships between the skin surface, musculature, ribs, and lungs.

SIMULAB Thoracentesis Model
The SIMULAB thoracentesis trainer simulates a partial torso with anatomical landmarks for practicing thoracentesis. Its simulated lung can be seen as an echogenic structure with an inflation mechanism to adjust the size of the pleural effusion.

Features and Benefits:

  • The open top allows the instructor to provide feedback on procedural concepts by allowing students to visualize the catheter depth and placement when inserted into the pleural cavity.
  • A positive fluid flow offers users feedback when pleural effusions are accurately accessed.

Quantity Available: 2

SIMULAB Paracentesis Model
The SIMULAB paracentesis trainer allows learners to drain fluid from the peritoneal cavity in the abdomen. This anatomically correct model allows the procedure to be performed with or without ultrasound guidance.

Features and Benefits:

  • Use midline or medial entry point to perform the procedure
  • Anatomy includes superficial epigastric vessels, partial liver and spleen, rectus abdominal muscles, and mesentery intestines
  • Anatomical landmarks include the pubis symphysis, iliac crest, and umbilicus
  • Allows up to one liter of intraperitoneal fluid removal

Quantity Available: 1

SIMULAB Lumbar Puncture/Epidural Trainer
This task trainer allows students to practice lumbar punctures and epidurals. The trainer can be positioned on its side or upright.

Features and Benefits:

  • Ultrasound compatible
  • Anatomy includes: lumbar vertebrae, iliac crest, spinous process, ligamentum flavum, epidural space, and dura.

Life/form® Prostate Examination Simulator

The Life/form prostate trainer enables learners to practice detecting stages of prostate cancer. Four separate prostate glands are supplied with the torso, representing one benign gland and three stages of prostatic carcinoma in varying degrees of development.

Features and Benefits:

  • Stage A Gland: benign, slightly enlarged, but otherwise normal prostate gland.
  • Stage B Gland: simulates a beginning stage of carcinoma.
  • Stage C Gland: the spread of carcinoma is demonstrated in this gland.
  • Stage D Gland: this gland is totally replaced with carcinoma
