OUR STAFF

Sean Overstreet

Simulation Operations Associate

Before joining NYSIM in March of 2021, Sean was an administrative professional with over 7 years of experience ranging from customer service, operations, and administrative work. After having worked as an Operations Manager at a medical scribe company, Sean realized a passion for the medical field and teaching. He started to pursue his career in the Department of Education(DOE) but ultimately found his way to NYSIM after deciding that he wanted a role that made an impact, but could also facilitate his desire to breach into the medical world.

Brielle Blatt

Program Supervisor

Brielle Blatt is a Program Supervisor, overseeing the operations of the Standardized Patient Program at NYSIM. She studied Public Health at Tulane University and has a Master of Public Administration in Health Policy and Management from NYU. Her interest in simulations was piqued from her prior role as a Senior Project Coordinator at NYU Grossman School of Medicine where she managed an Integrated Clinical Skills curriculum.

John Kang

Simulation Operations Associate

John Kang currently works at NYSIM as a Simulation Operations Associate, using his valuable skill sets to support simulation programs. Previously, he worked as a Project Associate for NYU Seaport Orthopedics and NYU Langone Otolaryngology Associates. John received a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. In his spare time, he enjoys sports, trivia, and visiting museums.

Cynthia Reyes

Simulation Operation Associate

Ms. Reyes had professional training as a Licensed Practical Nurse and participated in specialized coursework in the field of nursing during her high school years. In 2014, she received her Bachelor of Art in Psychology at CUNY Hunter College. During her time at CUNY Hunter College, she had the opportunity to work as a Simulation Facilitator for Hunter’s Nursing Department. Working as a Simulation Facilitator allowed her to collaborate with nursing educators and prospective nursing students.

NYSIM is a world-renowned simulation facility for healthcare professionals that opened in September 2011. We are honored and excited to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The successful partnership between CUNY and NYUGSOM is due to the vision and foresight of a number of leaders and collaborators: Dean Robert I. Grossman MD, Dr. Steven Abramson, Dr. Thomas Riles, Dr. Antonio Perez, Dr. Andrew Brotman, Richard Donoghue, Iris Weinshall, Sheila O’Loughlin, Judy Bergtraum, Dr. Julia Wrigley, Dr. Demian Szyld, Dana Sunshine, Dr. Sondra Zabar, and Dr. Grace Ng. We thank Drs. Zabar and Ng for continuing to build the educational programs since the opening. We are grateful for the vision of Dr. Donna Phillips, Assistant Dean of Simulation Education, who is committed to innovation, and elevating simulation education to enhance outcomes in patient care, quality and safety.

This month, our team would also like to celebrate the hard work of our National Certification Courses (NCC) Team. This mission-critical program has operated throughout the pandemic, providing the American Heart Association’s (AHA) BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses to our community nearly every day. NYSIM is proud of the exceptional quality of our NCC courses, which is in no small part due to the excellence of our team of instructors: Larry, Candice, Don, and Cynthia! Thank you all for your dedication and engaging teaching styles. A big thank you to our Adult and Pediatric Medical Directors, Dr. Jeff Manko and Dr. Dennis Heon, whose content expertise and leadership have allowed our courses to continuously improve.
