Courses

Hands-On and Collaborative

NYSIM provides a hands-on, collaborative approach to health profession training that improves communication, teamwork, and effectiveness in managing patient care in critical, high stress situations.

Whether practicing procedures on simulated patients in the intensive care units, operating rooms, or wards, or interviewing and examining standardized patients, NYSIM offers an effective, exciting way to learn.

Professionals who take NYSIM courses report that they learn new skills and assimilate new information about the latest procedures, patient management and diagnostic modalities.

Who Can Take NYSIM Courses?

NYU and CUNY Undergraduates, Graduates

Most courses at the New York Simulation Center for the Health Sciences (NYSIM) are taught by faculty from New York University and City University of New York through a powerful NYU-CUNY partnership. This means that learners at all levels have access to a wider range of health science courses than can be offered by a single institution. And they are taught by faculty with clinical experience in the New York urban area, one of the country’s most robust clinical and research environments.

NYU Langone Medical Center Residents

Tailored courses for Residents offer high-level, in-depth simulation training in specific clinical areas.

NYU and CUNY Clinicians

NYSIM offers world-class faculty development courses and advanced clinical courses.

Instructors from Other Simulation Centers

For simulation faculty who are teaching courses at other simulation centers, as well as at NYU and CUNY, intensive courses are offered five times a year. Faculty are also invited to join NYSIM for monthly grand rounds and other programs.

First Responders

NYSIM is pleased to offer courses for first responders in the New York area, including emergency medical service personnel and firefighters.

"The knowledge and skills that we gain by working in the NYSIM Center exceeds anything we could possibly learn in the classroom or even on the wards. The authenticity of each simulation allows us to manage cases and work through problems in a safe and supportive environment." – Ashley Lamparello, 4th Year Medical Student, NYU Langone Medical Center
