It is with great pleasure to announce that Dr. Joanne Agnant and Dr. Deepak Pradhan will join The New York Simulation Center for the Health Sciences (NYSIM) as Associate Medical Directors on July 1, 2022. Drs. Agnant and Pradhan will lead simulation education and research to improve health outcomes, equity, and safety for all patients. In collaboration with faculty across NYU Grossman School of Medicine and The City University of New York, they will ensure high-quality education and assessments while fostering an environment of continuous improvement, teamwork, communication, respect, diversity, and excellence. Joanne Agnant, MD, MSc, the Associate Director of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Fellowship Program at NYU Langone Health/Bellevue Hospital Center, joined the NYU/Bellevue family as a PEM Fellow in 2010. After completing her fellowship, she joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor, obtaining a Masters in Clinical Investigation at NYU Langone Health’s Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI). Her professional interests include medical education for fellows, residents, medical students, and nurses, with a focus on simulation-based medical education and process improvement. Dr. Agnant is also interested in wellness, mentorship, promoting diversity & inclusion, and providing compassionate and equitable care to our diverse patient population. As Associate Medical Director of NYSIM, Joanne will support simulation-based medical education across NYU Grossman School of Medicine and CUNY, collaborating with our educational leaders to design, implement, and evaluate our programs with the overarching goals of improving health outcomes, equity, and safety for all of our patients. Deepak Pradhan, MD, FCCP, MHPE candidate, is the Associate Program Director the NYUGSOM Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) Fellowship, Co-Director of the Bellevue Veno-Venous ECMO Program, Faculty in the Bellevue Special Pathogens Program and the National Emerging Pathogens Training and Education Center, and former Associate Section Chief of Pulmonary/Critical Care at NYULH Tisch Hospital. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Brown University, and was a PCCM fellow and Chief fellow at NYU. He is currently completing a Masters in Health Professions Education at NYU/Maastricht University. He attends in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at NYULH Tisch Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. His interests in include point-of-care ultrasound, simulation, procedural competency, faculty development, and medical education. Deepak looks forward to collaborating with NYU and CUNY educators engaged in simulation-based education, helping to improve the rigor of their simulation activities, provide guidance on turning their efforts into educational scholarship, and overall raising the visibility of NYSIM as one of the preeminent simulation centers in the nation. Dr. Agnant and Dr. Pradhan’s leadership and expertise will enhance the quality of our simulation activities and continue to carve a path of innovation and distinction in the realm of simulation education. NYSIM requires that reservations are requested at least 2 weeks in advance of the program date. However, NYSIM strongly recommends that all reservations are made as soon as possible. To schedule a new program, please fill out a reservation request form.
Program changes can be made here. Please note, NYSIM will not make major modifications to requested dates, times, and equipment needs within 2 weeks of the program date.
We are trained, certified and professional Simulation Instructors, Researchers and Medical Personnel who've helped overseen 50,000 learner visits.
Since its opening in September, 2011, NYSIM has had more than 50,000 learner visits and delivered nearly 2,000 simulation courses for NYU and CUNY medical, nursing and dental students, residents, staff physicians and nurses, physician assistants, respiratory therapists as well as those in other health care fields. NYSIM offers training to first responders in the New York area, including firefighters and emergency medical service personnel.
NYSIM specializes in training for simulation instructors from NYU, CUNY and other healthcare institutions that would like to enhance their own simulation programs.
