Joanne Choi, MPH
Katie Tame
This month NYSIM would like to say a big thank you and farewell to one of our beloved and bold leaders, Joanne Choi! NYSIM has been honored to have such a remarkable leader at our helm since 2012. In her role as Administrative Director, Joanne successfully built the operations, scope, and influence of both NYSIM and WISE, and has fostered a foundation of support, respect, and compassion. While we are saddened by Joanne’s departure, we are excited for her growth, and want to congratulate Joanne for her new role as the Department Administrator of Radiology at NYU Langone Health! We celebrate Joanne’s joy, transparency and straightforward leadership, and know she will bring her very best to this new position. Thank you, Joanne for all of your contributions to NYSIM’s longevity, operations and culture. We miss you already!
It is also with great pleasure that we announce Katherine (Katie) Tame has been appointed the new Administrative Director of NYSIM! Since joining NYSIM in January 2020 as the Assistant Director of Operations, Katie has proven to be an outstanding leader and innovator. In that role she has assumed operations of NYSIM, gained the admiration and respect of the staff as well as the leadership, and has been instrumental in setting the tone and culture of the center. Prior to Katie’s role at NYSIM, she served as an educator and then as a manager in Patient Experience at NYULH between 2016-2020. She is a wonderful educator with prior experience in simulation as a Standardized Patient Educator, and is skilled at developing and managing teams. Prior to her Patient Experience role, Katie worked for Hope for Warriors, a non-profit organization, from 2010-2016. There she served in various roles and became the Director of Staff Development and Education. Katie brings more than ten years’ experience in guiding organizational strategy to the position of Administrative Director of NYSIM. Our team is so proud of and grateful for Katie’s exceptional leadership over this past year and we can’t wait to see how NYSIM grows with her dedication and vision. Congratulations, Katie!
Thanks in great part to both Joanne and Katie’s leadership, NYSIM has a beautiful, team-work oriented culture, and NYSIM is meeting our mission “to foster excellence in care, communication, patient safety and quality through simulation education and research”. Please join us in congratulating both Joanne and Katie on their new appointments!
